The Netherlands and Muslims? What happened there?

How did it happen that this small European country. Known for it's hospitality, toleration and good cheese became so vocal about Muslim's tendency for violence.
How did this quite country with no enemies in the world became a place where people speaks out so harshly about Islam?
Is it something in the food they are eating? Is it because of the Muslim's food? Is it because of hatred to the foreigners? I don't think so.
In fact, Middle Eastern food was never as popular, Netherlands are known for their open mindedness but still something happened there.

I am not an expert for Holland  but I read a little and found that there are a lot Dutches that are sick and tired of Muslim being intolerable. Of Muslim's behavior The Netherlands towards gay people, woman, Jews and Christians.

Did we again let the wrong people speak on our behalf? Did we again let the ugly face of the blood thirsty Islam raise it's head?

What is our future in the rest of Europe? I saw the violent demonstrations in France, the threats in Sweden and England. When will be wake up?
The Europeans are very patient but they are not stupid.

We will be sorry for the missed opportunity given to us to be part of the civilized world that they have to offer us.

For Muslims that don't like the liberal ways of the Dutches, I call you to leave the Netherlands, go back to your homelands where you can practice your conservative way of life and don't impose your hate on the Europeans. It's not fair to them, It's not fair to us, Modern Muslims that are willing to accept the fact that we are guests.

Most of my people would like to silence me,

  1. I'm dutch myself. Do you live Europe? I think conservatives also have a place in for example The Netherlands, among the dutch there are some conservative christians who think exactly the same as the conservative muslims you mentioned. Indeed it's not fair that their hatred is being imposed on the Europeans, but maybe the only smart way to make this stop is to set a good example ourselves for the others in this world and educate everyone.

  2. Dear Anonymous.

Thank you for the feedback. As I mentioned, I am not an expert for what is going on in the Netherlands but I am trying to learn more about it.
Your input and opinion here is very valuebale to me as you are living what I am reading about.

I completely agree with you on that tone, that we have to be first humans, live and let live. Conservatism is OK as long as it doesn't heart a feeling of another.
But still, I would like to make an important point. The Islam as being led these days by our clerics around the world, leaves no place for tolerance, no space for coexistence and will always get into a cultural clash with the hosting culture. This needs to be tamed and that's what I am trying to do with my blog.
Please share my article with your friends, I would love to hear more of your and other people from the Netherlands, about their thoughts.

    Thanks you.

  3. I've heard that the Islam leaves no place for tolerance. The Islam should reform into something what Christianity is now.

What I love most is the idea that there must be more people like you. Is it true that there are many muslims who don't dare to criticize their way of living or their religion? Maybe that's the problem, I don't know...

  4. Indeed, it leave no place for tolerance, No place for self critisizm.
You tell me, how many Arab countries do you know with prospering Churches?
How many gay parties did you hear about in the Arab world?
How many Muslims did you hear that are criticizing their own clerics, that are without doubt fanatics who preaches for violence.
Or, should I ask, How many did that and stayed alive...?
I am not the only one. I get a lot of supporting e-mails from other Muslims that loves their traditions and religion but not the way those Bullies are presenting it. They are all afraid to speak up.
That's why it's important to have this kind of space to express our thoughts without taking the risk of being harmed.

  5. One time I asked a Moroccan classmate this: "What would happen if you fall in love with a dutch or any other boy who happens to be christian?" "Would you convert into christianity for him?" "No", she said, "I will get problems with my family and the society". Her twin sister has a spanish/italian boyfriend who is catholic and she said: "He will convert to Islam so he can marry my sister". I find this so weird, or is it me being weird ;)

  6. This is how we believe. If you are Muslim youneed to only merry Muslim.
If I want to merry an Italian Ctholic, she also has to convert.

But I don't think it's weird. If one doesn't want to convert, he doesn't have to.

  7. Hmmm, I absolutely don't understand now...

  8. Pretty simple.
I believe conversion needs to be true and out of belief. Not out of marriage or force.
Take the Jews for example. You can't just convert to Jewish one morning. In Islam it's a short process of saying a verse of the Koran, in Christianity it's being baptized. Jews will take you through about 3 years of studies and tests. Only those who really believe in Jewdaism, will be willing to go through that and not out of convenience or marriage.
What I am saying that I think that a Muslim should merry a Muslim. If he is willing to merry a non-Muslim he needs to accept that she doesn't want to convert or that she wants to convert but you can't force a Muslim to convert to Christianity just because he married a Christian.

  9. Now I get it, thank you. It's all about love and peace, right!

  10. You can say that.
I guess I was trying to say that no one should force conversion on anyone.
Please should do what is right for them.
You want to believe in dogs. go ahead, just let me live too..

  12. You better... You know us...
    Just kidding.

It's important that we, as different people can talk our views and learn how to live with another opinion.
Please forward my blog out there.
    Thanks

  13. Dear Farhan,

going through your article.. I was just laughing on the innocence with which you portray your Islamophobic feelings. I happened to be in Netherlands in summer this year. beautiful country and great people I must say. I lived with a native in Amsterdam for three days and we had similar discussion on rising 'anti-immigrants' feeling in europe which some people (including you) use it to malign Islam. They dont have much problem with Islam per se, the main reason why they supported the right wingers in Netherlands was-- and I'll quote that guy "the high crime rates among immigrants specially Moroccans and unemployment among natives due to recession".
the fact is people like Geert wilders use soft spots like Islam to target it, but their main concern is immigration. once muslims are out, he might turn against other communities, pagans, jews, romas...

So chill buddy, there might be rise of right wingers in europe, which actually is a sign of declining cultural and economic activity in that region than targeting some aspect of religion. (u can also consider this as rise of nationalistic feelings among europeans).

P.S. Kindly catch the latest news buddy, seems like you are out of touch. look at this--
German multi-cultural society has failed - Merkel.
    http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20101017/wl_afp/germanymuslimreligionimmigration

Now I thing you may consider that europeans have problem with immigration not a religion.

  14. After reading your blog, I came to this conclusion

    1. Either you are an innocent middle eastern living in Israel and have grown up watching israeli far-right media or american channels like Fox, so this misconception. and also you dont have basic knowledge of Islam, thus this angry feeling which are completely based on what "some" muslims do.

    2. OR, you are an Israeli, a follower of zionism, and waging a crusade on muslims which you might feel is your duty to do so.

Just one suggestion-- read the other's point of view before forming any opinion on the issues which concerns with death of thousands of innocent humans and have made lives of millions worse than hell.
For starters you may try reading books of Journalists like Robert Fisk, or former US prez Jimmy carter.
    Regards.

  15. Dear Aamir.

I must start first with your comment to my nationality. I get that a lot from other Muslims that disagree with me since this would be the worst thing you can tell to another Muslim or Arab.I was just a little surprised that it came from you because even thogh we disagree, I think that you also don't share the same dark hatred opinions that are being presented by Muslims around the world. But I don't mind you "Calling me names" instead of commenting to what I said. It means that I gave you strong enough arguments.
Obviously, don't let it confuse you, I am a Muslim Arab, very proud of my heritage but aware of the problems we are having these days.

As I said before, My knowledge in what is going on in the Netherlands between the Muslims and the local people is poor and it is interesting to read your opinion about it.
It was interesting to read that you found that the Europeans don't have anti Islam feelings Per-Se which is completely opposite than my impression from the Media. This is very reassuring. I will keep reading about it and hope to get more comments from locals.

My background in the middle-east issues is very vast. I came from a classic Muslim Family, Spent some time in Israel and became friends with some Jews and Israelis later in my life.
I am probably about 10-15 year older than you are and history of that area and the people living in it is more than just interesting for me.
My reading is not limited to the English publications nor only to the Arabic ones. I also ready Hebrew with the help of Google translate often.
I found that the Arabic Journalism is obsessed with Israel and the hatred towards the Zionist movement.
Most of the viewers and readers accept it as truth even though it's mostly lies and manipulations. That's why I have my blog. I will argue with anyone that will bring serious and detailed arguments. In Arabic or English.

We are all from one Ummah, but we are still allowed to have different opinions.

  16. The unemployment isn't as high as aamir mentioned. You can't blame the umemployment. The fact is that the Dutch, I don't know about the other European countries, see poor people come in who won't contribute to our society and at the same time don't like the way we live. Unfortunately it happens to be most of the times muslims. The only one thing needed here is that we're allowed to criticize Islam, just like the Europeans criticize Christianity.
A change is needed, The Netherlands needs the same immigration system as the USA or Australia.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Ooops, Aamir. This guy is a local.
I guess we, as Muslims, still have to look into what we are bringing with us since it started bothering the locals and they have some valid reasons.
When someone immigrates to another country, he needs to know that he is a guest. Not to enforce his ideas in that country.

  18. If this was a problem from only The Netherlands you may be thinking, maybe it's the dutch who are the problem. But in fact a lot of European countries have the same problems. Why is this? This is a question I keep asking myself.

    ReplyDelete
  19. What are you saying? that the other european countries also have problem with the fanatic Muslims or the others loves them?

    ReplyDelete
  20. that the european countries have also problems.
